Keep fast-moving parts in stock, but order expensive cameras, locks, and specialty devices against signed proposals and deposits. Inventory should shorten installation time, not become a showroom of yesterday's technology.

Track productive field hours, not just paid hours. A technician can be busy all week and still bill too little because of windshield time, missing parts, rescheduling, customer Wi-Fi problems, or callbacks. This is a good business for an operator who can sell trust, manage technicians, standardize a narrow technology stack, and retain customers for years. It is a poor fit for someone who sees hardware markup as the whole profit pool.
